    The connexion to old land management, and the ability to see evidence of what's been done is amazing. I'm reading a book “making a living in the middle ages” which is all about Britain from 750-1400AD, its political and economic interwinings. What you are saying dovetails with that.

    Fascinating. I wonder if I can persuade my archaeologist friend to walk with me (she'd certainly agree to that) and to explain something about what we see, in terms of native American use of the land before European settlement.
